Liquid Gold Awards, Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2024
Zu unserem Doppeljubiläum im Jahr 2023 haben wir ein ganz besonderes Fass aus unserem Keller entleert. Die 13 Jahre Fassreifung schenken dem Jubiläums Whisky eine dunkle mahagonibraune Farbe und verleihen ihm intensive Geschmacksnoten.
Wie die meisten unserer Whiskys verbrachte diese Jubiläums Edition die ersten zwei Jahre im Limousin Eichenfass. 2012 wurde dieser Gerstenmalz Whisky in ein frisch entleertes Madeira Weinfass gefüllt, wo er bis zum Abfüllen im Jahr 2023 ruhte und reifte.
Unsere Nasen und Gaumen versprechen:
Die Nase überzeugt mit reichhaltigen, üppigen Noten von süßen Rosinen und Dörrfeigen, Honig, Walnuss.
Am Gaumen sirupartig und cremig, würzig und vollmundig. Erinnert sofort an trockenen Madeirawein, Zartbitterschokolade, Caramel. Je länger am Gaumen desto stärker tritt süße Rosine, Dörrfeige und Datteln in den Vordergrund und bleiben sehr lange präsent.

"Nose (24/25) if I had 50 madeira casks ahead of me, still sloshing about with their very finest wine and I had to pick one...it'd be something that nosed rather like this. Half a point lost because there is an atom or two of sulphur, but most central Europeans would never find that in a million years. But that layering of grape and black pepper, all reinforced with sturdy oak....just wow! taste (24/25) it's not just the purity and dexterity of the grape – which at once is eye-wateringly tart, sweet and lush – it is the oaky nuances on the deeper layers below, giving the perfect balancing dryness to the huge juiciness. And the variable intensities of the spices, seemingly blowing hot and cold. I have consumed many an enormously flavoured Melton Hunt cakes with less fruitiness on display than this...; finish (23/25) there was almost an inevitability there would be a light sulphur niggle on this. But such is the continued richness of the fruitcake on hand, the blemish is only a minor one...; overall balance (23.5/25) if this was only a matter of high-quality Madeira which is bouncing out of the glass, the score would be high, but not this high. What makes this so special is the proud richness of the tannin from which the fruit makes is heady, spicy statements. Penderyn-like in its Madeira-emblazoned glory..."
